1st Michigan Engineers & Mechanics Census

The Brothers of Camp 444 are working on a project to create a Census of Veterans of the 1st Michigan Engineers & Mechanics that are buried or lived in the Camp’s assigned geographical area of Wexford, Missaukee, Roscommon, Osceola, and Clare Counties. Camp 444 pays tribute to its namesake engineer extraordinaire General Orlando M. Poe, as well as honoring the brave men of the 1st Michigan Engineers and Mechanics, which many were assigned to General Poe to carry out his engineering tasks. By generating the Census, it will provide the Camp, local historians, and descendants a new consolidated source of historical information on these brave men that resided in the five counties.
